‘Freedom’

10th July – 20th August, 2010.

Louis Parsons keys into Relational Art that came out of the Young British Art movement. Like Damien Hirst and Tracey Emin, he wants you to ‘feel’ the work, to question our existence and why we are here. This exhibition entitled Freedom is about touching things beyond our everyday life, to something beyond. The Young British Artists were all about ‘sensation,’ and Louis Parsons follows this trend with him wanting the viewer to feel the sensation of freedom. Damien Hirst explores Death, Louis Parson explores Freedom. What is our response to this?

Parson’s contemporary paintings captivate the importance of life. They are incredibly thought provoking and emotionally charged through his unique way of capturing light. This is highlighted through the changes of light rippling outwards from the canvas, a sense of being ‘caught in the flow of life’. He believes his artwork puts us back in touch with power, presence and inner beauty.

He is known for creating work that stimulates the soul and his Soul Scapes series do exactly this. Whilst quietly contemplating the work you become re energised. His unique way of capturing light, particularly around the stretched figures emanates the miracles of life and emphasises such a strong sense of aliveness and power.

Painting over the last 10 years has led to Louis’s abstract oil paintings being widely collected worldwide. It is through the story and emotional connection that mesmerizes his audience and has made them accessible to so many people.

Louis travelled the world for two years. During this time he rediscovered his passion for painting and once returning to England became a full time artist.

He currently holds Soul Expression Workshops, which he believes helps others through creative thinking realise the essence of your life and the path you choose to take. This has effectively helped many corporations including the Hilton and the Royal Bank of Scotland.

The Meller Merceux Gallery welcomes you to join us through this enlightening journey and to connect with the content and style intended by the talented Louis Parsons.
